What was it like participating in the 2017 Jessie’s Girls 3K Challenge?

The 3K Challenge was so much fun! I had never participated in any type of fitness challenge so I didn’t know quite what to expect. The best part about Jessie’s Girls is the community and the way we all rally around each other. Although it was initially out of my comfort zone, I quickly embraced sharing my experience through posting transformation pictures, and I was able to connect with so many women. I found myself more interested in supporting their journey than my own, but that’s what is so great, you just grow to love each and every Jessie’s Girl and you feel like family.

Describe your fitness journey and how you found Jessie’s Girls.

I stumbled across Jessie’s instagram page one day and on a whim decided to give her Muscle Building 1 Training Program a try. Best money I’ve ever spent – this program changed my life! I had previously been working with a nutritionist and trainer who jump started my motivation to be in the gym, but the diets were restrictive and around 1,500 calories. It just wasn’t sustainable and I found out the hard way once I stopped following their plans – I gained the weight I had lost right back. I was totally new to the concept of tracking my food and macros. I had zero clue what I was doing! But I dove in head first and committed to tracking my macros and hitting the gym six days-a-week as prescribed. I started feeling amazing! I was getting stronger and leaner, I had more energy, I wasn’t starving, and more importantly – I started to let go of the guilt I had surrounding food. The list is long, but let’s just say I never looked back!

What was it like WINNING the 3K Challenge?

Surreal for sure! I attended one of Jessie’s Training Camps in July 2016 and I saw the positive impact of what her programs and her community were having on the people around me – I wanted to be a more integral part of that. Winning, and becoming an ambassador allows me to do that so I could not be happier! I have great admiration for Jessie and all that she stands for both in the fitness world and on a personal level, so I’m stoked to represent her and continue to learn from her.

Describe the emotions of seeing Jessie surprise you.

That was wild! I mean it was somewhat of a blur and all I could do was hit the ground in the fetal position. Was that from shock or from my recent Jessie’s Girls Bikini Body 2 leg day? Probably both! It’s crazy to have Jessie standing in front of you. A moment that I had thought about, but also quickly dismissed because anything could happen. The 24 finalists in the Jessie’s Girls 3k Challenge are all so amazing and it could have been any one of us. I especially appreciated the few hours we spent together at lunch that day. It gave me a chance to personally express to her how much Jessie’s Girls means to me and how it has changed my life.

What is your favorite exercise and why?

Probably the Conventional Deadlift. I had never tried to do any sort of deadlift pre-Jessie’s Girls and I’m yet to perfect it. I like the challenge of perfecting my form while being able to increase my weight and just feel like an overall badass doing that lift.

What is your favorite Jessie’s Girls program?

It’s hard for me to choose, but I always find myself going back to my first program, Muscle Building 1. You never forget your first love, right?

What’s your pre-workout ritual?

I wake up at 4:30, drink a protein shake, eat some Rice Chex, wander around my house for about 30-45 minutes and try to be at the gym by 5:15am. I really love getting my workout in early in the day, that way I know it’s done and I find that I have more energy throughout the day.

Describe your perfect post-workout meal.

Favorite post-workout meal is for sure an egg white bagel sandwich with Pepperjack Laughing Cow Cheese.

If you were a box of cereal you would be….

It’s got to be my post-workout meal boo thang Rice Chex.
